Lots of crochet happy news.

Since my last post, I have opened my new Etsy shop and sold my first neckwarmer/scarflette. This is it! It is now owned by a super nice woman in Brooklyn New York. * so excited * Now I have a million and a half other projects almost finished. Ha...almost finished...does that makes sense? It does to me. I enjoy switching around to different projects. I am most creative crocheting per mood swing. I also like to list my Etsy stock a trickle at a time. It keeps it new and interesting, and all of my items aren't listed next to each other all at the same time.

The big rainbow scarf is one part of a 3 part birthday present for my youngest daughter's friend from school. She's also getting a crocheted change purse (I don't have a picture of that yet) and something Hannah Montana-ish from the store. I think she'll like it. I hope she likes it!

I made this for my friend E Momma. She loves the ocean and the color gray, so I made her a cowl using a strand of hand dyed yarn called Ocean and a strand of gray yarn. It brightened her day, she's going through a very hard time so anything I can do to put a smile on her face, I'll do.

I plan on making a scarf for my oldest daughter and everything else that I'm currently working on is for my Etsy shop. I've been a member of ArtFire for a few months and I'm thinking about trying to sell of few items there as well. I should probably buy a few things first (it's good karma). The only obstacle is that I'm not too sure of the bells and whistles on ArtFire, yet, I'm still learning.

OK, that's my crochet update for now. Other than that, real life has been filled with day camp, birthday parties, graduation parties, BBQ's, lazy sunny days, lunches w/my husband, wine w/the gfs, parades, fireworks, and all of the typical things that make summertime FUN time. I hope everyone else is enjoying their summer. I also hope you are finding the time you need to be crafty and happy!

My first hat!

This is the first hat I've ever tried to crochet (modeled by Rock N' Rose)! OK, I don't really follow patterns or even really like patterns....so I looked at a pattern for a completely different hat and then made this one up. I'm not sure what it is...a beret? I don't know. There are some imperfections, so don't study it too hard. LOL I'm working on another one and this time I'm going to write it down as I go along so I can keep better track of what the heck I'm doing.

WOW!

It's been so long since I tried logging into my blog that I had no idea what email address I was supposed to enter. Yikes! That's terrible. That's beyond slacking, that's just plain LAZY. So, I've decided to get my butt in gear this summer and post. I have lotsof projects finished and I bought myself a great camera that takes gorgeous pictures....basically, I have no more excuses.

OK, first on the agenda....because of summer schedules, my crochet group is now meeting on Thursday nights and my friend Donna's house instead of Wednesday mornings. This works out very nicely. Second, our group project is a blanket. I'm having trouble with the blanket because it requires a small hook and I'm not very fond of small hooks. I'm working on it, though. Here's a picture of me at crochet group. I'm looking smiley because I'm loving what I'm doing!

These are my latest Tunisian projects. Both are pullover neck warmers. The second one is made from the sparkly yarn that I posted about back in February or March. The first picture is my first attempt at using 2 strands of yarn at the same time. Since finishing these, I'm more focused on regular crochet but I haven't abandoned Tunisian completely, I'm just taking a break from it for now.
Obviously, I still do not have the hang of uploading photos! LOL
Now I'm going to browse around some other blogs here since I haven't in such a long time. I plan on coming back daily to add more, maybe not always photos but to at least post something.

Crochet class!

The crochet class at the community center started last Wednesday! Yippee! I've been bugging the woman who started the whole thing about it since July. It took a while for her to get the teachers together but it's finally started and I love it. I taught myself Tunisian crochet (which I am still learning everyday) but this is a regular crochet class which I knew very little about. It's exciting!

There are a few more women in the class now but this is the picture from the first class. I'm the one in the faded Jerry Garcia tie-dye.

If I can get my offspring fed and bathed and my mountains of laundry put away in decent time, I'll post pictures of what I've made so far from what I've learned in class. For now my Tunisian projects are kind of on the back burner while I try to get the hang of traditional crochet. I don't get confused going back and forth between projects, but I do hold my hook in a knitting position for Tunisian and that's doesn't work in traditional. So right now, I'm just trying to get the hang of getting comfortable holding my hook the "normal" way. Being slightly abnormal has always been my specialty, though!

Yep, I am a blog slacker.

I admit it. I'm also wondering why this layout is so very light pinkish. Wth? I'm changing it, pronto. I fixed my camera settings so my pictures won't be so blurry...I kept thinking it was the lighting.

I've probably made 5 or 6 things and given them away since I last posted without taking pictures, but that's OK, I'm always making new stuff. Current WIPs: a pillow that's almost finished, 2 cowls that still need buttons sewn on them, and a scarf that's inspired by a Pink Floyd album (you'll see), and another pillow that's about 3/4ths of the way complete.

Finished projects that I still have and may just keep for myself: A wool cowl and a scrap scarf.

Ideas: Bikini. I know it sounds weird but I found this hippie crocheted bikini in a catalog and I know I can make one myself (maybe not for me but for someone) only in my own design. Maybe in rainbow colors. I'm going to give it a shot.

I look forward to the sunshine and warmth that Tom Clark promised us for the end of the week. :-D

Happiness Is:

A lovely purse I made for Rockin' Rose with some leftover Strata yarn...

And, new yarn from Smiley's on Main Street - that cute little yarn and fabric store that I <3. Isn't it pretty? It has sparkly, shiny strands in it that are remind me of bright stars in the night time sky.

Happiness is also that warm feeling I get from rum when I want to cry otherwise, hahaha.

WIPs (Works In Progress)

Today the lighting in the house was better. Early morning sunshine is best! Some WIPs, a moss green scarf in yarn that is made from recycled plastic soda bottles, how cool is that?

Next is an apron that I bought about 4 years ago from a place in Callicoon called Valerie Ann's. I have no idea if it's still there but they used to sell vintage linen (pillowcases, tableclothes, etc). Some were works that weren't finished, such as this apron. It has stains and the bottom is missing a seam - I love it! I decided it needed some embroidery. I can't wait to wear it around the kitchen and pretend that I can cook. Teehee.

***Edit*** My photos aren't loading in order. As if you hadn't noticed.

Lastly, since I've been crocheting (since May)I've probably made about 40 scarves. I just starting taking photos because I feel that these newest ones are finally something to look at, that am I beyond just the learning phase. So here are a few more that are decent enough to be photographed.

Other than scarves, cowls, and aprons, it's just life as usual around here. My youngest daughter has an ear infection and some crazy wheezing going on. She's on antibiotics and an inhaler, poor thing. Ask her what she wants to do when she grows up and she'll tell you she either wants be a princess or a cowgirl, so sometimes I call her Princess Cowgirl. On the opposite end of the scale there's my oldest daughter - when asked the same question she'll yell, "I wanna rooooock!!!" This is followed by loud guitar strumming and jumping around. Watch out, world! :D
